Our Services
“It is easier to build strong children than to repair an adult” to paraphrase Frederick Douglass, American Abolitionist, 1817-1895. As adults, it is much harder to change the habits we have developed as children. My desire is to help create caring, confident, capable children who will grow up to become caring, confident and capable adults.
Play Therapy
Play is our first language. Just as adults use words to communicate, children use play. Using everyday play items such as sand, dolls, blocks, art, puppets, children can make their inner world visible, a play therapist can help clients better process their experiences and develop more effective strategies for managing their worlds.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT is thinking about our thinking. Through discussions with the therapist, clients will learn to become aware of their negative thought patterns and learn new tools to think, act, and react.
Parent coaching
It is a common phrase, “If children only came with a manual.” There is no manual but there are many effective strategies and techniques that any parent or caregiver can learn to use with children to promote well-being and connection between parent/caregiver and child.
Voice of the Child Report
This report assists families and courts in exploring a child’s voice in a parenting dispute. Mora prepares a Voice of the Child report using play therapy techniques as well as interviews and other assessments. Voice of the Child reports are requested by a lawyer to the court.
